Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)

Companies selling electronics into the European Union (EU) must document compliance with the strict standards of the EU Directive on Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS). RoHS compliance requires that electrical and electronics products or components contain only limited amounts of the heavy metals lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, and polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs). Standards based on RoHS are proliferating around the globe.
