XOS Changes Landscape of Elemental Analysis by Introducing HD Mobile Portable HDXRF Analyzer at ICPHSO Annual Meeting
Benefits of HDXRF technology for compliance with regulations such as CPSIA, RoHS and F963 now available in a portable format.
ORLANDO, FL (February 28, 2012) — XOS, leading global provider of mission-critical material analysis solutions for industries and regulators, is pleased to announce HD Mobile™, the newest addition to its line of High Definition X Ray Fluorescence (HDXRF®) Analyzers. This game-changing portable analyzer will be demonstrated for the first time at the 2012 International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPSHO) Annual Meeting and Symposium in Orlando, FL (February 29-March 2).
HDXRF provides heavy metal analysis in consumer products with precision similar to that of wet chemistry, but with quicker turnaround times, lower costs and without destruction of product samples. XOS’ HD Prime™ HDXRF instruments are now widely used throughout the world, including by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, for the measurement of lead and other heavy metals in paint and other surface coatings of children’s products.
XOS developed HD Mobile in response to the needs of U.S. and international manufacturers, retailers, importers/exporters and regulatory bodies, who require the ability to extend HDXRF technology beyond the laboratory and out into the field. Compliant with ASTM F2853-10 (recently approved by the U.S. CPSC for Certification to its lead in paint regulations), HD Mobile will provide highly precise screening and quantification for lead at levels well below the regulatory limits defined in the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) for both coatings as well as substrates such as metal, glass and plastics. HDXRF analyzers not only simultaneously measure lead in paint and substrate materials (and giving accurate measurements for both), but also precisely measure cadmium, arsenic, mercury, antimony, and other elements regulated in a wide variety of children’s and other consumer products.
HD Mobile is unique in its design compared to other portable or handheld XRF devices. In addition to being the only portable device with HDXRF technology, it also features seamless integration into a unique case design for stationary use. This ‘smart case” not only houses the removable hand-held analyzer, but also serves as a charging/docking station, and as a stationary test instrument.
Satbir Nayar, XOS Product Manager notes “HD Mobile brings the power of HDXRF out into the supply chain of a wide variety of consumer goods, including electronics, jewelry and children’s products. Whether it’s in a factory, a warehouse, port of entry or on the store shelves, HD Mobile now provides highly precise first party testing capabilities to ensure that products are safe and compliant with U.S. and international product safety standards.”
XOS will be demonstrating its HD Mobile HDXRF Analyzer at the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (Pittcon 2012) in Orlando, FL (March 11-15 2012), as well as at the ICPSHO Annual Meeting and Symposium this week.
