ASTM Award of Excellence Presented to XOS Vice President Berry Beumer

Albany, NY (January 14, 2011) – XOS Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Berry Beumer, was presented an ASTM Award of Excellence at ASTM’s recent meeting of Committee D02 in Jacksonville, Fla.  This award acknowledges extensive contributions in drafting and promoting standard test methods across several ASTM Committees including D02, D16, and F40.

Among the issued and pending standards initiated by XOS are D-7039 (sulfur in fuels and diesel) which has achieved enormous popularity in the petroleum industry for its ease of use and excellent precision; and D-7536 (chlorine in aromatics).  Most recently, in 2010, ASTM Committee F40 issued F-2853 for the measurement of lead in paints and substrates, which addresses the issues presented by increasingly stringent consumer product testing regulations (e.g., CPSIA).

More standards are also in process under XOS’ authorship, including the measurement of silicon in gasoline and related products.

XOS marketing excellence was also recognized for the company’s introduction of innovative analyzers to industry (including SINDIE, CLORA, and HD XRF) which embody these and other standard test methods, and which have been adopted by a broad base of end users and testing laboratories worldwide.

ASTM International provides a global forum for the development and publication of international voluntary consensus standards for materials, products, systems and services. Known for their high technical quality and market relevance, ASTM standards are used in research and development, product testing and quality systems. While the use of ASTM standards is voluntary, government regulators have given them the force of law by citing them in legislation, regulations, and codes.

XOS® is a leading global provider of mission-critical materials-analysis equipment for industries and regulators that must control material quality and performance, from consumer products (e.g. toys) to electronics to the petroleum industry. XOS leverages its world leadership in x-ray optics to supply application-specific analyzers that measure environmental and product contaminants such as lead, cadmium, chlorine, and sulfur. As a supplier to analytical instrument companies, XOS offers x-ray optics and sub-systems to enhance analytical performance in x-ray instruments.
